The program Contra viento y Marea, hosted by Sandra Zaiter, completes this outstanding block of programming at 5:00 pm. For more than 15 years, this has been the only program in the USA and Puerto Rico dedicated to highlighting the success and triumphs of Spanish speaking people with disabilities. Additionally, it provides information and insight to the public about rights, opportunities, and availability of services for this community.

Puerto Rico has approximately 1 million people with some kind of disability such as impaired vision or hearing. To benefit the hearing impaired, we already have a sign language translator for the last two editions of our tv news.

“It is a great honor for us to offer these services jointly with this corporation. There is no doubt that this event will have a great impact on the community with disabilities. We hope we will be able to see the results soon,” said María Victoria Díaz, Director of Closed Caption Latina.

With these closed captioning and video description services, TU TV once more re-affirms its commitment to educate and entertain our population. We will continue working to incorporate these services into other programs such as Prohibido Olvidar, Miniciencia and Ponte en forma.
