San Juan, Puerto Rico – “Tu Universo TV” will join forces with Closed Caption Latina beginning November 3rd. The purpose is to provide closed captioning services to the hearing impaired population and video description to people with impaired vision on some of our regular programming. The project will begin with a program package that will be broadcast on Saturdays from 3 to 5 p.m.
“I’m very pleased that we are associated with this special service that will benefit our community with hearing and vision disabilities. “With the closed captioning and video descriptions, TU TV will become the first television station in Puerto Rico that provides both services simultaneously,” said Victor Montilla, President of Corporación de Puerto Rico para la Difusión Pública.
Closed captioning is a system in which all of the information that is being transmitted via sound is also transmitted through subtitles, giving the hearing impaired population more complete access to information. The Video Description Service consists of a written account of what is occurring when there is no dialog.
